As you can see from my external links category (Out-Linkage), I am very selective with the sites I will link to and recommend. The latest two I have added are the Internet Archive and Project Gutenburg. Like many sites I have visited these frequently for several years. If you are looking for information or perhaps to even learn something peruse both of these sites and make a donation to them if you find them helpful.
My wife and I are getting our third dog tomorrow, a second Pug-ClaraBelle. So, I made a coupling leash for when we take all three of our girls on a walk. This is less than a third the cost of what you would pay at the pet stores to accomplish the same thing- two dogs with one leash.
Needed: Some rope ($2.75), two metal snap hooks ($1.20 ea), one metal ring(.43), a scissors, and a lighter.
Cut the rope to about a 2′-3′ length and loop it through the metal ring. I looped it through twice to provide a little more resistance when one dog pulls suddenly. This helps to prevent the second dog from being jerked out of her senses.
Then I tied it through each snap hook using a double looped knot. Tie a loose knot then loop the free end back through the same loop and tighten.
Finally I trimmed the excess rope and melted the frayed end using the lighter. Total cost: $4.30 vs. $14-$20 at the pet stores. Plus it is completely customized for my dogs and I have a bunch of extra rope for other uses.
Time for a walk.
They actually learned very quickly that they have to walk at a similar pace.
Here is a brief clip of Sassy and Poochie demonstrating their new coupler leash.
As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, I pull my tomato plants in the fall before frost and hang them in my basement. Well, It is now November 5th and I just harvested even more ripe tomatoes from my hanging tomato vines. This, along with Eric’s tomato transplant got me to thinking about a little experiment I’ve been meaning to try. Stay tuned for more on that later.
