Wednesday, May 17th, 2006#!@&%* < - That may be a bit more appropriate. However I was happy to see that even at $2.93 a gallon it was actually lower than the $2.95 a gallon for regular gas. Of course I am referring to diesel. As I mentioned in previous posts I will begin a 200+ mile a day commute within about two weeks. So I bought a diesel VW Jetta like this one:

This is just something for you to ponder. It gets over 40 mpg in the city and almost 50 mpg on the highway. I am still investigating my options for going with a waste vegetable oil system. The obvious advantage involved with installing such a system of course is cost. The second is good old home grown fuel which is very appealing to me. I for some reason just can’t understand why after over twenty years since the last “oil crisis” we still have not adopted a U.S. based non-petroleum fuel. When I take the leap and start burning veggie oil in one form or another this is the place where I will log my results. Here are a few of the systems I’m looking into: Vegeterrainian, GreaseCar, Frybrid. In no particular order.
