Yes! $2.935 a gallon. :-|

#!@&%* < - That may be a bit more appropriate. However I was happy to see that even at $2.93 a gallon it was actually lower than the $2.95 a gallon for regular gas. Of course I am referring to diesel. As I mentioned in previous posts I will begin a 200+ mile a day commute within about two weeks. So I bought a diesel VW Jetta like this one:

This is just something for you to ponder. It gets over 40 mpg in the city and almost 50 mpg on the highway. I am still investigating my options for going with a waste vegetable oil system. The obvious advantage involved with installing such a system of course is cost. The second is good old home grown fuel which is very appealing to me. I for some reason just can’t understand why after over twenty years since the last “oil crisis” we still have not adopted a U.S. based non-petroleum fuel. When I take the leap and start burning veggie oil in one form or another this is the place where I will log my results. Here are a few of the systems I’m looking into: Vegeterrainian, GreaseCar, Frybrid. In no particular order.

This is far more satisfying than Raid.

My wife came across a video which immediately made me think of my Spider Rifle.
Speaking of which, my Spider Rifle Plans are in the latest version of Make magazine which is on the newsstands now. Check out the site if you haven’t yet.
If you haven’t built one yet I’m sure you will want to after watching this Arachnifest.
Cripes No!
In case you haven’t seen my plans you can find them right here.

Yes you’re at the right place.

Right off the bat I’m sure you noticed that the colors are different. Well, I decided that a theme change was well over due so here it is. Next I’m sure many may have noticed that the site poll is gone. As the vast majority of visitors to my site listed the upside down planter as the reason for their visit it was motivation for me choosing this theme since it has a spiffy greenery motif going on. Of course I will continue to post updates on my inverted plants status to the board. Once again I welcome any pictures of IPlanters you have built. Send them to: matt@ohcripes.com. For those that don’t subscribe or have been living in a cave on a remote island and haven’t heard of it; a set of plans here on my site is in the latest issue of Make magazine. I’m not going to say which plans just yet as the magazine has not hit the newstands yet. It’s a great magazine which I recommend to anyone who likes to rip things apart and tweak or modify them. They also have a blog listed here. Thanks for visiting. ~Matt

That’s not a table it’s a shelf!

You never know what you may find in the attic of your old house. I found some old oak table leaves in mine and got the notion to make them into some new shelves for my dining room. Read all about it here.
