Hey, it’s Big Bird!

Friday, January 27th, 2006

I should say a big bird, at least for in the city. I had just pulled into the driveway a few minutes ago and noticed that there was a nice sized Hawk sitting on top of my clothesline. I was quite surprised that I was able to get as close to it as I did before it flew off as you will see in the pictures below. In the city where I live Hawks have become a fairly common site as the local government worked with the state DNR-I believe; to relocate a large number of hawks into the area in an attempt to reduce the pigeon population. I’m not sure how well it’s working but I guess I need to stay closer to my dogs when I let them outside. Especially Poochie as she is only about 5lbs.

So here are the pictures taken in natural light, of course. Click on them to see a slightly larger unobstructed version.

You may have noticed that there is now only one picture. I moved all of the others to their own page to shorten load times for those that may not really care to see them. If you would like to peruse them feel free to Click Here or the link on the right under pages.

Yell and scream at the big ugly board.

Thursday, January 26th, 2006

Type actually. You can still yell and scream but I won’t be able to hear you and your computer may protest the abuse by crashing. To get to the point, I have Finally set up a discussion board for OhCripes and have a few forums on it where you can ask questions regarding my projects and how to’s. So the board is here. Post away, I will respond.
Yes, I know.-Sometimes I just have to.

It’s cold outside, make it look like spring inside.

Vegetables that are grown upside down taste better or at least make a good conversation starter. Here’s how I made an inverted hanging planter to grow beans and tomatoes indoors. And yes it’s made from a soda bottle- be green, recycle it yourself. Check back frequently for updates and additional pictures of my upside down plants. I will try to add comments and pictures at least weekly.

Do check out the big ugly discussion board for a few updated pictures and tips. Also if you have questions regarding the planter, that is the place to ask.
