Merry Christmas here’s your water logged present!

Thursday, December 29th, 2005

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree, You water damaged my newly refinished hardwood floor. Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree I’ve dragged and thrown you out the front door!

That’s right. The day after Christmas we went out and bought an artificial tree and threw the real one to the curb. It turns out that the tree stand had a small crack in it which in turn leaked water onto our foyer floor. After wiping up what seemed like gallons of water my wife and I could see that the floor boards are now slightly cupped(higher on the edges than the centers). So, no more real trees for us.

Yet more visits from the living impaired in our old house. Ghosts for those of you who are less politically correct. I have started a page specifically for keeping a log of our spiritual occurances. I will add more as it happens and am in the process of putting together a timeline of previous visits.

Here’s a quick teaser for you:

Foreign people?

Wednesday, December 7th, 2005

Now, I don’t have a problem with foreign people really. Where I do have a problem is when foreign people roam around the USA and can barely speak ENGLISH! It’s like a customer walks in the door with a computer problem. They try to explain there problem, but can’t do it in English because they do not speak it! Then, they turn around and say something in Spanish, German, Greek, whatever there native language is, laugh a couple times and turn around again to try and say something. I say, if you live in America, SPEAK ENGLISH!

Is junk science really so bad?

Wednesday, December 7th, 2005

When talking to people from most all coastal regions; discussion invariably ends up being about two things: climate and real estate. Those in warm regions usually ask something like “So is it really That cold in Wisconsin?” Between brief pauses in my teeth chattering I usually manage to respond with “Y.y..y…esss it is.” Proof of this is that today it is 9°F which is -13°C for those of you that are somewhere significantly warmer. Hey, guess what? It is not technically Winter for 14 more days! This is why real estate prices are so much lower here. So if a few ozone depleting aerosol cans happen to leak into the atmosphere would it really be such a terrible thing? Oh, I’m sorry. Global warming is “junk science”.

Computer Sick?

Is you’re machine slowing down? Do you get thousands of pop ups with your system doing absolutely nothing. Then you’ve got SPYWARE!!! To get rid of this spyware crap go to www.lavasoft.de to download Ad-Aware, go to http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html to download spybot search and destroy and then go to www.microsoft.com and download Microsoft Anti-Spy. With these three products combined (of course you have to actually use them!) you should remain clean of internet spyware.

Of course, if you have viruses then you’re just out of luck. Just kidding, if you don’t have an antivirus program or doubt your current version check out www.trendmicro.com and perform a FREE virus check up on your PC.

Now, if you’ve really screwed your machine up and need to get it fixed, visit your local computer store!

Cripes: to express annoyance, anger, or dismay. Go ahead, it’s ok here.

Dodo Blog

DohDoh!So has gone my previous blog, or I should say blog software. You may have noticed. As I had never really set up nor administered a weblog before I had chosen my previous software because it seemed pretty simple and had a nice clean layout. Well, after running it a few weeks I finally got sick of the slow response times and errors. Now I am running Wordpress which seems a bit snappier and has a nice array of themes and plugins available. I should have started out with this but I wanted to give the little guys a chance.
